Amtrak Frederick Douglass Tunnel – Southern Approach (Package B) enhances safety systems and increases capacity for a heavily traveled section of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor and MARC's Penn Line.
The scope includes construction of a new ADA-compliant West Baltimore MARC station, a southern approach structure to the new tunnel, two highway bridges, and three under-grade bridge replacements.
Work includes the relocation of major utilities, reconstruction of roadways, and the installation of a track interlocking system and overhead catenary system (OCS), plus upgrades to the traction power, train signal, and communications systems. This is a Clark/Stacy Witbeck, Joint Venture project.
